Thrfiting in Manhattan... Part 3

So after a couple of hours we moved around the corner to a store that promised so much...Vintage Thift, 286 3rd Avenue.

It did not disappoint. We walked into the most impressive Thrift/Charity shop I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. An emporium filled to the brim with a huge range of beautiful vintage homeware (everything really was vintage!) and a small selection of vintage and designer clothing. Here's a few pictures so you can share in the wonder of this amazing place.

Vintage Thrift is a nonprofit and was founded in 2000. Proceeds benefit The United Jewish Council of the East Side.

Making the most of the lack of natural light at the back of the store with multiple lamps and spot lights giving a lovely soft glow.
Quirky is an understatement in this place!

The helpful staff were really good fun, their vast product knowledge was obvious when I asked for more information on this 1940's Rooster lamp I fell in love with. They pointed out immaculate silk lined shade, showed us how to take it apart and we discussed at length how to convert it to 240v for use at home.

Having been reduced from $125 for $75 (£50) I HAD to buy it - in memory of this amazing store and to add my growing collection of chicken related interiors!

The only question left is - can I fit in a visit to their other NY store??!

The branding throughout the shop really didn't let them down
